I was up in Grand Marais, MN a few weeks ago with a couple good friends and came back completely energized. I realized after leaving that small, retired port city that I live a busy life. One that leads to worry rather than comfort, doubt rather than hope, and distraction rather than stillness. Yes, hard work is incredibly important to me but there are limits to it. As we attempt to create everything for ourselves we take the power away from the one who created everything. In the midst of all the chaos that we're surrounded in, we have a tendency (I know I do) to think that we alone have the power to change the world. We act out, we protest, we voice our opinions all in an effort to make an impact. There are many examples in the bible that help beautifully illustrate the act of being still and how it truly impacts the world.
"The LORD will fight for you while you keep still.” Exodus 14:14
“Now then, stand still and see this great thing the LORD is about to do before your eyes!" 1 Samuel 12:16
"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:31
So I reached out to my friend Eva Winters knowing she could bring this idea to life and loved what she created. She has a few more up her sleeve that will go along this theme of "being still". Follow her for more updates!
